ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA

A Candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the state of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto by Mangalore University is eligible for admission to these programmes.

Additional Conditions of Eligibility for specific combinations

A candidate opting Physics / Chemistry in the B.Sc degree programme shall have studied Mathematics in addition to Physics/ Chemistry at the qualifying examination.

A candidate opting Botany, Zoology in the B.Sc. degree programme shall have studied Chemistry and Botany or Zoology or Biology at the qualifying examination.

A candidate opting Microbiology shall have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology or Botany at the qualifying examination.

SUBJECTS OF STUDY:

Subjects of study shall comprise the following

Group – I : LANGUAGES:

The candidate shall opt for General and Communicative English as compulsory subject and one of the languages listed below:
Kannada, Sanskrit, Hindi and Tulu

GROUP – II : OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

A candidate shall ordinarily opt for any three Arts subjects for B.A. degree and any three Science subjects for B.Sc degree subject to existing combinations.

i) Arts Subjects: (subject to existing combinations)

Kannada, English, Hindi, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Journalism, Tourism and Travel Management.

ii) Science subjects: (Subject to existing combinations)

Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology.

iii) Commerce Subjects:

Compulsory Papers : Principles of Management, Economics, Financial Accounting, Business Law, Financial Management, Business Statistics, Banking, Business Taxation, Cost and Management Accounting, Auditing, International Trade.

Group III:

i) Foundation Course (Common for all courses):

Constitution of India and Human Rights, Gender and Environmental Studies shall be as compulsory subjects, alternately, in the first and second semesters.

ii) General Studies:

It shall be studied as a compulsory subject in the III semester of B.A. and B.Sc. degree Programmes.

iii) Interdisciplinary Subjects:

Computer Applications or Human Resource Development Studies or Art and Culture or any other subjects as prescribed by the University shall be studied in the IV semester of B.A. and B.Sc. degree programmes.

iv) An interdisciplinary subject which a student opts for shall be other than those studied under optional.
